Gers confirmed the Goldson transfer – and the stopper's four-year contract- today on the official club website.

They said: "Rangers are today delighted to confirm the signing of defender Connor Goldson from Brighton and Hove Albion on a four-year-deal.

"Goldson becomes the sixth signing of an already busy summer here at the club, and arrives with a variety of experience from his spell in England."

Rangers had two bids for Goldson rejected before finally sealing his signature.

The Shrewsbury centre-back fell behind Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy in Chris Hughton’s pecking order at the Seagulls.

His first-team chances took a hit when Brighton signed Nigeria stopper Leon Balogun on a free transfer.

He could now form a new-look defensive partnership with Croatian international Katic, 21, when the new season begins.
