But Wilder, 33, laughed off the Matchroom boss' suggestion because he says nobody in America "cares" about AJ.

The Alabama native said: “We’re not focused on them, we’re not concerned by them.

“I don’t need another man to build my name, I got my status because I knock people out.

“If people do their own thing in their own country, we don’t care over here.

“They’re keeping my name in their mouth, it’s the opposite.

“You don’t see me going around down interviews and speaking their names.

“But with them it’s different and it’s even funny at this point because the roles have reversed.

“Over here we’re happy and nothing will mess that up until the time comes for me to knock him out.”

Hearn insists Wilder and his team have no intention of securing a spring fight with Joshua, the 22-0 WBA, WBO and IBF champion, who is booked to box at Wembley Stadium again on April 13.

But the big-punching American says it is AJ who is running scared of a mouth-watering unification clash.

He said: “I’m in the business of fighting the best, I’m in the business of seeing who’s the best.

“The heavyweight division is too small to have more than one champion.

“A lot of these guys are scared. They can say whatever they want but deep down inside when you go to bed you know the truth.

“It lingers with you and haunts you at night because you know who the baddest man on the planet is.

“If anyone avoids me after I beat (Tyson) Fury, then they will just be solidified in that spot of being cowards.”
