Dez Bryant was helped off the Saints practice field Friday afternoon with an injury the team fears is a torn Achilles tendon, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports.

Bryant was reportedly getting an MRI Friday afternoon. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the injury occurred on the last play of practice.

The veteran wide receiver, who had been seeking a new team since the Cowboys released him in April, had just signed a one-year deal with New Orleans on Wednesday. According to ESPN.com, Bryant’s deal will pay him a prorated base salary of $600,000 for the remainder of the season with an additional $500,000 in incentives possible.

Although Bryant participated in the Saints practice Friday, he had not been expected to play Sunday against the Bengals.
