TJ Dillashaw set for Henry Cejudo flyweight title fight at UFC 233 in January 2019

TJ DILLASHAW could be in line for a shot at the UFC flyweight title against champion Henry Cejudo, according to reports.

Dillashaw is the current bantamweight champion, winning the title against arch rival Cody Garbrandt at UFC 217, while also defending it successfully in the immediate rematch.

The 32-year-old has previously expressed his interest to make the move down to flyweight to challenge Demetrious Johnson.

However, Johnson's 13 fight win streak was broken at UFC 227 as Henry Cejudo ripped the flyweight title off Mighty Mouse in what was a rematch of their 2016 first encounter.

Johnson has since made a high profile move over to ONE Championship in Asia – with welterweight Ben Askren making the switch to the UFC.

After the groundbreaking swap deal, rumours suggested the UFC were set to scrap the flyweight division all together.

However, ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported on Twitter that a deal was in the works for Dillashaw to meet Cejudo at UFC 233, on January 26.

Dillashaw will attempt to become the UFC’s sixth male two-weight UFC champion, following the success of Randy Couture, BJ Penn, Conor McGregor, Georges St-Pierre and Daniel Cormier.

McGregor currently stands as the only UFC champion to reign at two different weights simultaneously when he held the featherweight and lightweight titles.

Despite the feat McGregor did not defend either of his titles, with Cormier becoming the first fighter to make successful defences of both his titles.

Cormier has held the light-heavyweight title since 2015 and the 41-year-old made history at UFC 230 when he defeated Derek Lewis in the first defence of his heavyweight strap.

At UFC 232 on December 30, Amanda Nunes, the women's bantamweight champion, will step up to featherweight and challenge Cris Cyborg for her 145lbs title.

If Nunes is successful in December she will become the first ever women two-weight champion in the UFC.
