The Australian star was still in school when he won the 2002 junior crown at SW19.

Reid was tipped to become the next big thing in tennis after bursting onto the scene that year, but quit the sport in 2005 due to injury.

On learning of Reid's death, Aussie tennis legend Todd Woodbridge took to Twitter to share his grief.

Woodbridge said: "Very saddened to hear the news of the passing of Todd Reid.

The former New South Wales prodigy quickly became Australian No3 behind superstars Lleyton Hewitt and Mark Philippoussis.

But persistent injuries and a bout of glandular fever quickly derailed his blossoming career far too early.

Reid reached the third round of the Australian Open in 2004 and reached a career high ATP ranking of No105.
