The connection between Astros shortstop Carlos Correa and his fiancee, Daniella Rodriguez, reached a new level Wednesday night.
Correa, playing for Double-A Corpus Christi on a rehab assignment, hit a foul ball that landed in Rodriguez’s hands after it bounced off a railing and just missed a kid who was on his device.
SN POWER RANKINGS: Astros higher than Red Sox?
Correa joked with MiLB.com that he meant to do that.
“Haha, I was totally trying to hit it to her,” he wrote to the website in a Twitter direct message. “Nah, I couldn’t believe it when the guys told me! It was a cool moment for her, she was super excited!”

Rodriguez tweeted her about her catch (we’re talking about the foul ball in this case):

No word on whether the distracted youngster eventually wound up with the ball.
Correa proposed to Rodriguez, a onetime Miss Texas USA, on national TV right after the Astros’ Game 7 victory in last year’s World Series (she said yes). The two now have another neat story to tell about their engagement.
