Why is Rafael Nadal not playing?

The Spanish world number one will not be in Lille after retiring in his US Open defeat to Juan Martin del Potro.

Nadal withdrew after suffering once again with a recurring knee problem.

Pablo Carreno Busta and Roberto Bautista Agut will instead be the singles pairing for the semi-final match.

While he will miss Spain's Davis Cup tie, the 32-year-old is expected to return for the China Open on October 1.

When will the France vs Spain matches be played?

The Davis Cup semi-final will be played between September 14 and September 16.

It takes place at the Stade Pierre Mauroy, Lille, France.

It will be played as follows:

Friday – opening two singles matches

Saturday – doubles

Sunday – two singles games

Which channel is it on and can I live stream it?

Unfortunately, this is not being shown live in the UK.

Great Britain's play-off games against Uzbekistan are being shown on BBC Sport Online.
