The WNBA has ruled that the Las Vegas Aces will forfeit Friday’s game against the Washington Mystics that the Aces opted not to play, the league announced Tuesday.
The Aces were no-shows for the game Friday, deciding not to play because of what the team described as concerns about players’ health and safety after 26 hours of travel caused by weather delays and mechanical problems.
The Aces released a statement on that matter Friday, saying the players would be “at too great a risk for injury” after consulting with Players Association leadership as well as medical professionals and acknowledging the “decision was not made lightly.”

The WNBA had never postponed a game and subsequently declared a forfeit because a team chose not to play.
