Arsene Wenger’s return to management scuppered by Thierry Henry in France 98 charity match

ARSENE WENGER returned to the dugout for the first time since leaving Arsenal – to coach a Fifa 98 team against a France 98 side.

But the Frenchman's coaching comeback did not end well with his star-studded Rest of the World XI losing 3-2 at the U Arena in Nanterre.

And it was his old strike hero Thierry Henry who helped turn the screw.

Zinedine Zidane scored one and set up Henry, with Vincent Candela grabbing the third for Aime Jacquet's men.

Fernando Morientes and Gaizka Mendientes both struck for Wenger's side but could not force penalties.

The match was held as a 20-year anniversary to France's World Cup triumph with proceeds going to charity, similar to England's Soccer Aid which took place on Sunday.

And like Soccer Aid, Usain Bolt once again got a run out as the die-hard Manchester United fan looked to impress any watching scouts.

Ex-Manchester United keeper Fabian Barthez also caught the eye with a rare outfield appearance after replacing Robert Pires.

Wenger had been touted to replace Zidane as Real Madrid boss before Julen Lopetegui's announcement.

The Arsenal legend, who left the club after 22 years in charge last season, admits he wants to take up another hotseat.

When asked whether he had received any job offers since announcing his exit, Wenger said: "Yes! More than I expected.

"But I’m not analysing or considering anything. I want to work well here until the last day of my contract.

“For sure I will be active. My brain demands work and is active. I have huge experience in management. Overall, I will work.

“What will I do? I don’t know.”
