Australia star Greg Inglis ‘charged with drink-driving’ just day after being named international captain

AUSTRALIA rugby league star Greg Inglis has allegedly been caught drink driving just hours after he was named his country’s new captain.

The 31-year-old South Sydney Rabbitohs was driving back the Koori knockout round in Dubbo today when he stopped by cops.

A NSW Police spokeswoman told news.com.au: “At 2.15pm today, officers attached to the traffic and highway patrol command were conducting stationary speed enforcement on the Great Western Highway at Lithgow detected a black Mercedes Benz travelling above the speed limit.

“Police stopped the car and performed a roadside breath test on the driver, a 31-year-old man from Coogee, which allegedly returned a positive result.”

The incident occurred hours after the superstar was named Kanagaroos skipper ahead of Roosters ace Boyd Cordner to take on Tonga.

Inglis was arrested and taken to Lithgow Police Station.

He underwent a breath analysis which allegedly returned a result of 0.085.

Inglis was issued a field court attendance notice for mid-range drink driving.

He was also hit with a traffic infringement notice for exceed speed limit.

His licence has been suspended by the authorities and he is due to appear in Lithgow Local Court on November 2.
