Shawn Williams continues to pay the price for a hit on Andrew Luck in the Bengals’ Sunday matchup with the Colts.
Williams, who was ejected frim the 34-23 win over Indianapolis for his hit on Luck, was also handed a $10,026 fine.
The veteran safety expressed frustration with the penalty, which was initially flagged as unnecessary roughness but after review fell under the new illegal use of helmet rule causing Williams’ ejection.
“If you guys have any suggestions on what I can do to not get a flag and still do my job, then let me know,” Williams said after Sunday’s game, via the Cincinnati Enquirer. “… All the onus is on me to understand. I don’t know if they want you to know what Andrew Luck is going to do. I don’t know what he’s going to do. If it was up to me he should slide and give himself up earlier, but he didn’t.”
Williams returned to the field in the Bengals’ Thursday night game against the Ravens, another 34-23 win, where he recorded eight total tackles, one sack and one interception.
