Cleveland opted to pass on Penn State running back Saquon Barkley in the NFL Draft this year after signing Carlos Hyde as a free agent. Johnson, more of a pass-catching threat, will split time with Hyde this season.
Johnson rushed for 348 yards and four touchdowns last year. He also hauled in 74 receptions for 693 yards and three more scores.
Through three NFL seasons, Johnson has amassed 2,826 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns.
