THIS is the shocking moment Formula 1 star Brendon Hartley saw his car go airborne in a scary crash with Lance Stroll.

The Toro Rosso was going round the outside of the Williams driver on lap one of the Canadian Grand Prix.

It was at turn six they came together, with Hartley losing a tire in the massive impact and both exiting the race.

New Zealander Hartley's motor scraped alongside the wall.

Tyre tracks were visible all over it as the safety car was deployed to restore order.

And as the dust settled on the flashpoint, it appeared Stroll may actually have been more to blame.

His oversteer left Hartley with nowhere else to go except into the wall.

Hartley was heard saying on team radio: "I'm fine, he just ran me out of road."

And Stroll told his Williams bosses: "I had a puncture [before the accident]."
