Max Domi is done playing until the regular season.
The Canadiens forward has been suspended for the remainder of the preseason for roughing Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad in Wednesday’s matchup, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced Thursday.
Domi, playing his first game with the Canadiens, delivered a dropped-glove sucker punch to the unsuspecting Ekblad in the third period.

Domi was ejected and given a minor, major and match penalty on the play. Ekblad, who has a history of head injuries, exited the game but passed the NHL’s concussion protocol.
The Panthers defeated the Canadiens 5-2.
