Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata mocked on Twitter after Spaniard misses yet another golden opportunity in the Europa League

ALVARO MORATA yet again proved why he has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea.

With a chance to shine in a rare start, the Spaniard blew a golden opportunity to put the home side ahead against minnows MOL Vidi in the Europa League.

He was put through on goal in the early stages of the contest and just had the keeper to beat from close range.

But on his weaker right foot, Morata somehow missed the target when it looked easier to score.

For some viewers it was no surprise with the 25-year-old scoring just twice in his last 22 Premier League matches.

And plenty took to Twitter to vent their frustrations with the former Real Madrid and Juventus striker.

One said of the £60million man: "Morata is allergic to scoring goals, Giroud actually looked sorry for him after he missed that opportunity."

Another wrote: "I never thought I'd see something so surreal at Chelsea again, but there are more than shades of Torres about Morata right now."

One more didn't beat around the bush and commented: "Morata is one of the worst footballers I've seen in recent times."

And a Real Madrid supporter added: "Really don't know how Florentino Perez managed to get €70m for Morata. All I know is that uncle Flo is an absolute unit when it comes to business."
