Chesterfield simultaneously on worst winless record ever and best unbeaten run in 12 years

CHESTERFIELD are bizarrely on their best AND the worst run of form.

Saturday's 1-1 away draw with Eastleigh did little to help the Spireites move away from the lower reaches of the National League.

The result means that Chesterfield, managed by former Barnet boss "Mad Dog" Martin Allen, are 18 league games without a win

That has equalled the club record for the longest winless run.

The drawn game also means they have drawn eight consecutive league matches – equalling another club record.

But incredibly, going unbeaten in all competitions for 11 games is the club's best run for 12 years.

Chesterfield get the chance to end the miserable winless run when they face Bromley tomorrow night at the Proact Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the clash, boss Allen has refused to criticise the players.

He said: "We could not have better people representing us.

"They are giving 110 per cent  and I couldn’t ask any more from them. I am proud of them.”

Chesterfield sit fourth-bottom in the National League, with 19 points from their 21 games played.

Upcoming opponents Bromley aren't much higher in 17th, but are four points ahead of the Spireites.

They lost 2-0 at home to Dagenham at the weekend.
