Could This Team of Unsigned MLB Free Agents Make the Playoffs?

Main League Baseball’s scorching range has been damaged for many of the offseason and there’s no rush to repair it. An ideal storm of elements has led to the weird actuality of a boon crop of unsigned free brokers on the market as pitchers and catchers report back to Spring Coaching.

The pool of obtainable expertise is so deep that it received us questioning what it might appear to be if one used it to create a staff. Maybe like this:

Catchers: Jonathan Lucroy, A.J. Ellis

Infielders: Eric Hosmer, Eduardo Nunez, Mike Moustakas, Yunel Escobar, Neil Walker, Logan Morrison

Outfielders: J.D. Martinez, Carlos Gomez, Carlos Gonzalez, Jon Jay, Colby Rasmus

Beginning Rotation: Jake Arrieta, Alex Cobb, Jason Vargas, Lance Lynn, A.J. Griffin

Bullpen: Tyler Clippard, Greg Holland, Francisco Liriano, Tony Watson, Trevor Rosenthal, Jason Motte

Projected Lineup:

  1. Carlos Gomez CF
  2. Carlos Gonzalez LF
  3. Eric Hosmer 1B
  4. J.D. Martinez RF
  5. Logan Morrison DH
  6. Mike Moustakas 3B
  7. Eduardo Nunez SS
  8. Neil Walker 2B
  9. Jonathan Lucroy C

On first blush, that’s a lineup that may go toe-to-toe with some other. However the beginning pitching undoubtedly leaves one thing to be desired. The shortage of a real shutdown ace would probably show problematic.

Nonetheless, it’s hanging that so many massive bats are on the market simply ready for a spot to mash. They’ll discover a house quickly, with precise significant baseball looming over the horizon. And never a second too quickly as the above hypothetical clearly illustrates.
