Arizona center Alex Galchenyuk is not expected to play opening night after suffering a lower-body injury, the team announced Tuesday.

Galchenyuk joined the Coyotes in June after he was traded by the Canadiens in exchange for left wing Max Domi. Galchenyuk’s status is currently week-to-week.

He made history with the Canadiens, becoming the youngest player to play a full season with Montreal since 1984.

Galchenyuk spent six seasons in Canada, tallying 255 points in 418 games. In the 2017-18 season, he produced 51 points.

The Coyotes open their season Oct. 4 in Dallas.
