Staff were forced to use pipes and sticks in a bid to trap the creatures after crashing England's latest session.

The England Cricket Twitter account shared the incredible video… and it's far to say fans back home felt the players' pain.

One Twitter user even wrote: "I’d rather stand at the strikers end at the Gabba on the first morning of the Ashes series following an England Whitewash than anywhere on that training ground!"

England saw the first match of their tour washed out after just 15 overs due to monsoon weather in Dambulla.

The second ODI – played at the same venue – was also affected by rain, with England winning by 31 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method.

The third of five one-day internationals is set to start on Wednesday at 10am BST.

However, England may have to go into that game without spinner Liam Dawson – whose place on the tour is in doubt due to a side strain.

Dawson took one wicket in six overs in Saturday's win – but did not train during England's snake-infested session with the injury.
