Centre Manu Tuilagi was also absent from Tuesday morning's session, as was winger Joe Cokanasiga, who scored his first try on his debut against Japan.

The rest of the backs were all out training with speed coach Jonas Dodoo, the sprinter specialist who also works with Arsenal.

Looking forward to Saturday's Test against Australia, boss Eddie Jones said: "It's their last game of the year, so they'll want to put in a good performance.

"It's a traditional rivalry, Australia v England that always sets the scene for what should be a good Test match.

Jones has beaten the Wallabies in every Test he has played them swith England.

But he believes that his 100 per cent record against his homeland will count for nothing when they come to Twickenham.

He added: We're not looking back, we're looking forward so we're only thinking about this week.

"None of those results from the past help us this weekend, so we're just worried about this weekend."
