Irishman Seamus Power grabbed the Round 1 lead Thursday at the FedEx St. Jude Classic by firing a 5-under 65.

Power birdied two of his last three holes to surge ahead of the huge conglomerate at 4 under. He is looking for his first PGA tour victory.

A number of big names cruised to the top of the leaderboard Thursday, with Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson and Steve Stricker all shooting 4-under 66s. Koepka birdied five of his first 12 holes, before suffering a late bogey.

Dustin Johnson and last week’s co-runner-up An Byeong-hun shot matching 3-under 67s. Johnson, the world’s second-ranked player, had five birdies and one double-bogey.

Henrik Stenson and Charl Schwartzel led a contingent at 2 under, both looking to continue solid seasons with a win.
