Ferrari release new book that costs £22,500 – more than the average price of a car

FERRARI has released a real collector's item of a book detailing their magnificent history – but it will set you back a whopping £22,500 to buy.

Published by Taschen, the book contains exclusive material of the historical car company and has been written by Italian journalist Primo Allievi.

In addition to the book, the £22,500 offer also includes an a futuristic-looking bookrest built by designer Marc Newson.

It is made of polished steel and is designed in the style of a 12-cylinder engine.

The Art Edition is a 514-page jewel with exclusive content from private archives such as the one of Ferrari.

It includes several documents, sketches, and previously unpublished photographs.

There is even an appendix with all Ferrari's victories since 1947.

Current Ferrari president John Elkann and innovator Sergio Marchionne, who died only last week at the age of 66, have both signed the 'Art Edition'.

But for those who can't afford it, Ferrari has also a 'cheap' version – but even that comes in at a costly £4,500.

This 'Collector's Edition' is kept in an aluminium case and is signed by Piero Ferrari.

Both editions are limited to 1,947 signed and numbered copies.

A statement on the publisher's website read: "A project conceived in close collaboration with Ferrari, this massive tome is a veritable collector’s piece.

"A production unparalleled in its scale, it features exclusive content from the Ferrari archives and private collections around the world, bringing together hundreds of unseen photographs and documents to reveal the unique story behind Ferrari’s victories, its protagonists, and its legacy."

But with the price of an average medium-sized car set between £16,500-£20,000 according to Nimblefins, this collector's item is certainly aimed for high-end society.
