NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott, the father of current driver Chase Elliott, is making his return to racing.
GMS Racing announced Saturday the 62-year-old Elliott will make an appearance at the NASCAR Xfinity Series Road America on Aug. 25.

Elliott has not run a race since 2012, but was elected into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2015.
He won NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver Award a record 16 times and was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2007.
In 37 years of racing he won 44 races and 55 poles in 828 career events.
