Who is Chiliboy Ralepelle?

Mahlatse Chiliboy Ralepelle was born on September 11, 1986 in Tzaneen, South Africa.

He attended Pretoria Boys High School and represented the South African Schools Rugby team in 2002 and 2003.

A year before the Springboks won the World Cup in France in 2007, Ralepelle captained the Under-21 team to the World Cup final in the same country, where they were defeated by the French.

Also in 2006, he became the first black player to captain the senior South Africa team as they took on  the World XV at the Walkers Stadium in Leicester.

How many times has Chiliboy Ralepelle played for South Africa?

Chiliboy Ralepelle has played 23 tests for South Africa between 2006 and today.

But a transfer abroad to Toulouse and a subsequent drugs ban meant a lengthy spell out of the Sprinboks side.

The ban was a result of an out-of-competition drugs test in March 2014 when Ralepelle tested positive for anabolic steroid drostanolone.

Ralepelle had his contract with Toulouse cancelled before his hearing, which was scheduled for March 2015 and was subsequently given a two-year ban from the date of the positive test.

After his suspension expired in April 2016 he returned to South Africa to play for Natal Sharks.
