The Sabres will be without their captain for at least a couple of games.
Buffalo announced Thursday that Eichel is day to day with an upper-body injury and is out for Thursday’s matchup with the Panthers.
Eichel has been ruled out for tonight; Pilut will be in.

Coach Phil Housley told reporters he would be re-evaluated early next week. With a game on Saturday, as well, this means Eichel will be out for at least a couple of contests.
“We want to be cautious,” Housley said, via ESPN. “There’s a lot of hockey to be played.”
Eichel was named to his first All-Star team this week. He has 15 goals and 34 assists this season and has been essential to the Sabres’ success so far in 2018-19.
Buffalo is fourth in the Atlantic Division with a 21-13-6 record and in the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Sabres finished with the worst record in the NHL last season.
