Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee was carted off the field Saturday after taking a low hit to his knee by Falcons safety Damontae Kazee.

Lee, a fourth-year wide receiver out of the University of Southern California, caught 56 passes for 702 yards and three touchdowns for the Jaguars last season.

The Jaguars announced Lee left the game with a knee injury, but did not specify exactly what he hurt.

The NFL made a big move to improve player safety in recent years with legislation on hits to the head, protection of defenseless receivers and now leading with the helmet.

There remains no penalties for low hits on anyone other than quarterbacks.
