KSI vs Logan Paul fight could help stop kids killing each other on the streets, claims ring legend Lennox Lewis

LENNOX LEWIS has backed the KSI vs Logan Paul boxing bout if it gets kids dropping knives and wearing gloves.

Boxing purists were horrified by the celebrity bout between the two YouTube sensations which attracted over 700,000 viewers paying £7.50 a time.

But Lewis, 52, has taken the wider view that the spectacle could attract a new generation of computer gamers and disenfranchised teens to the famously disciplined sport.

In February there were 15 murders in London, the first month since records began when the UK’s capital had more slayings than New York.

But with police and politicians struggling for ideas on how to tide the flow of young blood on the streets, boxing statesman Lewis has had a vision.

He said: “I think that anything to do with boxing is a positive thing and the fact that these rich young guys choose boxing, ahead of anything else in the world they could do, shows its power.

British internet star KSI and American online comedian Paul have already got their rematch lined up for the US after the huge success of their sell-out Manchester Arena show.

Their spectacle on Saturday night followed on from the August 2017 boxing bout between ring legend Floyd Mayweather and UFC star Conor McGregor, which faced similar criticisms.

But Lewis, in London for his O2 show Undisputed on Thursday, says the success of these cross-over showdowns is only going to increase participation.

He said: “The numbers being generated are incredible.

“These have shown that there are going to be a lot more to come, these will not be the only ones.

“There are always going to things to follow that will try to top it.
