LA Rams whip Brits into Super Bowl betting frenzy ahead of New England Patriots clash

LOS ANGELES RAMS are the subject of a multi-million pound gamble in the run up to kick off in Super Bowl LII.

The pre-game outsiders have drawn more than two bets to every one for the odds-on favourites New England Patriots.

The Rams are proving equally popular on the spread, receiving a 2.5 point start, while fans are also devouring the total points line of over 56.5 – suggesting a classic encounter is expected at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

In the MVP betting, it’s unsurprisingly the Patriots'superstar quarterback Tom Brady – possibly playing in his last ever Super Bowl – who leads the way at 13/10.

This would be the veteran's fifth time being crowned MVP and sixth Super Bowl ring, although it’s Rams pair Jared Goff and Todd Gurley who have attracted the most bets.

In the first touchdown market, Sony Michel is the favourite at 13/2, neck-and-neck with Todd Gurley at the same price.

Some of the most popular special bets include whether there will be overtime – which happened in both Conference finals – who will be MVP, who will score the first touchdown and whether Aaron Donald will record a sack on Tom Brady.

Redzone.bet have already received a whopping £40,000 wager on Rams to win at 6/5, a further £10,000 bet for the Rams at +2.5 on the spread and another £10,000 laid down on there to be over 56 points in the game.

Co-founder and head of trading Stephen Baumohl said: “Both teams are going to try and establish the run early in order to control the game to keep each others’ opposition off the field.

"The Patriots secondary over the course of the season has become one of the most talented secondaries in football and to win the game at some point the quarterbacks are going to have to carry their teams.

"Jared Goff against that talented New England secondary, or Tom Brady with his game management – despite his arm not being what it was – against the Rams defence means you have to go with Brady.

“These teams are pretty evenly matched which is demonstrated in the line being just 2.5 points, meaning oddsmakers around the world are sure it’s going to be close, so the swathes of punters who have backed the Rams have a great chance of getting a result at our expense.”
