Le Mans 24 Hours 2018: Who won the legendary endurance race at Circuit de la Sarthe

AFTER 24 gruelling hours of competition, the Le Mans 2018 winner has crossed the finish line.

The classic race takes place annually at the Circuit de la Sarthe and attracts some of the world's best drivers to take on the full-throttle course.

Who won Le Mans 24 Hours?

FORMULA ONE star Fernando Alonso took the chequered flag in his first ever Le Mans.

The Toyota driver, along with Sebastian Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima, finally ended the Japanese manufacturers long drought at the event.

It gives Alonso the second part of the motorsport triple crown – along with his two Monaco GP wins.

The Spaniard will now turn his attention to the Indianapolis 500, as he looks to emulate Graham Hill and win all three.

Miles ahead of the competition, Alonso and Co were followed in by teammates Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway and Jose Maria Lopez.
