Masters 2019 LIVE: Nicklaus and Player tee off Augusta major in the first round

THE 2019 Masters is nearly upon us as Patrick Reed gets ready to defend his title.

The family-fun Par 3 contest was won by Englishman Matt Wallace, who will not only be looking to break the curse of doing the Masters double for the first time but become the first debut winner since 1979.

Keep up-to-date with all the build up to the tournament at Augusta with the SunSport LIVE BLOG.

I like the cut of Matt Wallace's jib (whatever a jib is).

The English debutant won the Par-3 event yesterday and is determined to end the hoodoo that comes with it…

    BOGEY MAN!

Shane Lowry's wayward tee shot at the 1st catches up with him as he makes a bogey five at the opening hole.

Not the start he was looking for.

    BIRDIE!

The first birdie of the 2019 Masters and it's delivered by America's Andrew Landry who makes a four at the par-5 2nd hole and wipes out the bogey he made at the opening hole.

    USA! USA! USA, etc, etc….

    FORE!

Yesterday, Ireland's Shane Lowry's first shot at the Par-3 Contest went straight in the cup for an ace.

His first shot today is not so impressive, rattling around the trees and endangering the local wildlife.

    PAR!

Nice to see Ian Woosnam making a comfy par at the 1st hole.

The 1991 champion has said that this is probably going to be his last Masters as he's in too much pain to play to the standard he'd like.

If it is his last Masters, then it's been a hell of a ride….
