Mike Trout is ready to get back in the outfield.
The Angels star threw for the first time in a week Tuesday but his sprained right index finger held him out of center field in the team’s 9-1 loss to the Red Sox.
“Hopefully, I’ll play in a few days,” Trout told reporters before Tuesday’s game, via ESPN.
Trout, who served as DH for the seventh straight game, singled in a 9-1 loss to the Red Sox to bring his total to five hits in 22 at-bats during that time span.
“It’s tough,” Trout said. “Obviously I want to get out there, just the mindset of staying locked in. It’s been different, but I’m trying my hardest to get back in the outfield.”
Trout, 26, is hitting .324 with 23 home runs and 48 RBIs through 80 games.
