LiAngelo Ball worked out for the Warriors Friday and he is confident about his prospects in the draft which start at 7 p.m. ET Thursday.
He said his time overseas helped him prepare for the next chapter of his basketball career.
“I don’t think my game would be where I’m at right now,” Ball said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. “Going overseas helped more, in my opinion. In college, I didn’t get the playing time I thought I’d get. So I was able to develop better overseas.”
Ball told reporters he believed he would be drafted Thursday and he can contribute as a “3-and D” player in the NBA.
Naturally, questions came up about his father, LaVar, who was not at the workout Friday.
“I get questions about my dad,” LiAngelo Ball said. “But like I tell everybody, that’s him. You’re going to have to talk to him about what he says. It doesn’t really bother me. I’m my own dude. … He’s going to say what he wants and I’m going to do what I do.”
While Ball may be confident he will be selected in the draft, there are few projections which have him being selected in either round Thursday.
It is likely he will have to sign with a G-League team and work his way to the NBA from there, if he ever gets the chance.
