The Hurricanes, emboldened by new own Tom Dundon, entered the 2018 NHL Draft hoping to shake up a roster than finished well below expectations in 2017-18.

In the waning rounds Saturday, Carolina partnered with the Calgary Flames to acquire defenseman Dougie Hamilton in a five-play blockbuster that shook up a stagnant draft floor, according to multiple reports.

News of the trade was first reported by TSN’s Bob McKenzie.
