The NHL Winter Classic has become one of the most memorable games of the regular season since the series’ first outdoor game was played 11 years ago, and this year should be no different.

The 2019 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic between the Blackhawks and Bruins will take place at Notre Dame Stadium, the home of the Fighting Irish, in South Bend, Indiana — a premier showdown between to Original Six franchises headed in opposite directions.

The Blackhawks are struggling this season but still have stars like Jonathon Toews and Patrick Kane, while the Bruins are firmly in contention in the Atlantic Division behind stars like Patrice Bergeron and Tuukka Rask.

It’s the sixth outdoor appearance for the Blackhawks, their fourth Winter Classic. This is Boston’s third Winter Classic and its first time playing as the visiting team. Chicago will be looking for its first Winter Classic win after falling to the Red Wings, Capitals and Blues in its last three appearances. Boston defeated the Flyers in 2010 for its only Winter Classic win.

Here’s a complete guide to the 2019 Winter Classic, including how to watch the game on TV and online, a look at the jerseys both sides will wear and a history of past Winter Classic games.

Bruins vs. Blackhawks Winter Classic jerseys

The Winter Classic jerseys tend to have a throwback look and are very different from a team’s normal attire. Sometimes the jersey designs aren’t so well received by fans, but this year’s minimalist design seems to be a hit for both sides. The Bruins’ jerseys feature the Boston “B” in the center, with the gold, black and white color scheme and a striped design. The Blackhawks’ jerseys are similar; their warmups include the logo in the center and the gameday jerseys feature a striped design.
