NRL Hit of the Year: Brutal, Open-Field, Possibly Legal, Rugby Hit Leaves Player Knocked Out Cold

Jack Wighton knocked out Jamie Soward with a vicious hit throughout Monday’s Penrith Panthers – Canberra Raiders NRL match. Soward was knocked unconscious and needed to be stretchered off the subject in a neckbrace. Wighton acquired a one-week ban for the hit which many argue was utterly authorized. It seems the first level of contact was shoulder-to-shoulder and Soward simply snapped his neck violently. The truth that Wighton has three-inches on Soward doomed them each on the brutal collision.
