Jake Ryan’s season is over before it started.
The Packers linebacker was diagnosed with a torn ACL and is out for the year, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported.
Ryan, 26, sustained the injury in practice. It appeared severe enough that the Packers were bracing for the worst.
He was expected to be a starter this season, making the injury a major blow to the team. Rookie third-round pick Oren Burks or Ahmad Thomas, a first-year player, likely will fill the slot for Ryan.
A fourth-round draft pick in 2015, Ryan posted 79 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in 15 games in 2017.
