Roger Federer pulls off one of best shots of all time as he hits ball AROUND net to win point at US Open

ROGER FEDERER slows no signs of slowing down and his latest age-defying stroke of genius will surely go down as one of his best.

Nick Kyrgios popped his eyes in disbelief as the 37-year-old whipped the ball AROUND the net.

The Swiss great managed 16 aces in the match and this trick-shot was another moment in the match where Kyrgios just couldn't compete with the 20-time Grand Slam winner.

Federer ran cross court and lunged for a ball that was beyond the tram line, so much so that he looked like he would trip.

But in typical, classy, Federer style he managed to send the forehand shot into court from the side of the net.

Across social media, many fans were in awe of the shot while others were stunned that the shot was legal.

He may currently be the number two seed, but Federer will almost certainly go down as a G.O.A.T

Federer beat the Australian 6-4, 6-1, 7-5 at the US Open and will now face another Aussie in the last 16, in the shape of John Milman.

A win there would set up a meeting with his Serbian rival Novak Djokovic, in what would surely be a thrilling game.

The official tournament page even labelled the shot a 'ridiculous around-the-net winner' and shared the tennis maestro's top five shots through the years, just to remind fans how good the Swiss star is.

The shot, which has already been hailed by Greg Rusedski as one of the best shots ever, is perhaps unsurprising from a man who has 20 grand slam singles titles.

Rusedski, speaking after the thrilling match said: "After the first set, Federer was the man and he went from strength to strength.

"He dominated the second set and the third set was like a highlights real, there was only ever going to be one winner after the first set."

Speaking of the shot, he added: "For Federer at 37 to get is past the post and squeak it up the line….Look at the reaction Kyrgios, 'its like mate you can't be serious', it was just sensational."

The US Open tournament has attracted a lot of criticism due to the temperature that the players are competing in and they have now ensured that they have implemented an 'Extreme Heat Policy'.

In a statement regarding the policy, it read: "For all men's singles matches, a 10-minute break will be allowed between the third and fourth sets if either player requests such a break.

"If both players decline a 10-minute break then play shall be continuous, appropriate medical timeouts for heat-related illnesses are allowed."
