The Stars have ensured Tyler Seguin stays with them for a long time.
Dallas signed the center to an eight-year extension worth $9.85 million per year on average, the team announced Thursday.

In total, the 26-year-old will earn $78.8 million with the new deal.
Seguin has been searching for a long-term deal, expressing his disappointment earlier this summer that it hadn’t happened yet.
In five seasons with the Stars, he has recorded over 70 points each year and finished the 2017-18 season with a career-high 40 goals and 38 assists in 82 games.
His new contract puts him above Stars captain Jamie Benn’s pay grade, who signed an eight-year deal worth $9.5 AAV two seasons ago.
