Student sneaks backstage to pose with footie stars… and even convinces Didier Drogba to not have him kicked out

A FOOTBALL-LOVING student had 'one of the best nights of his life' as he blagged his way into meeting some of the world's biggest names at a star-studded awards night.

Niall Moran, 20, was invited to Fifa The Best Awards 2018 in London on Monday night after winning an Instagram competition.

But upon arrival at the Royal Festival Hall, he learned the privilege would not grant him access to the stars – but instead a lofty view from the fifth floor alongside his fellow winners.

It was then that the University of Portsmouth student, who studies film industries and creative writing, formed a cunning plan.

Moran explained: "When I got to the award's ceremony, I was ushered past the gala room into an elevator.

"I was told there wasn't a chance I could meet any players, which was so frustrating.

"But after the ceremony finished they were just walking around downstairs, so I tried to delay leaving and waited in the toilet with my cousin Aidan.

"When we came out, all the security was gone so we walked round to where we knew the lift was and went downstairs.

"We'd timed it perfectly and somehow came out in the hallway where all the players were leaving. It was like the Lion King – like a stampede."

Niall and Aidan ended up meeting a host of stars at the prestigious event, including French World Cup winner Raphael Varane, Arsenal boss Unai Emery and ex-Chelsea and AC Milan ace Marcel Desailly.

He also convinced Chelsea legend Didier Drogba not to report him to security guards.

He also bumped into Liverpool and Egypt ace Mohamed Salah, and somehow managed to get accidentally pushed over by the man himself.

Explaining the incident on Twitter, Moran added: "Got pushed over by @MoSalah at the Fifa awards last night and genuinely felt we were re-enacting his award-winning goal."

The duo also bumped into ex-Manchester United striker Diego Forlan and Belgium manager Roberto Martinez

They also shook hands with Fifa president Gianni Infantino, before sitting down and having dinner with two Arsenal legends.

He continued: "All the players found it hilarious, they were helping me fulfil my dream. It was one of the best nights of my life.

"I sat and had dinner with Sol Campbell and David Seaman because there was food there and I was telling Seaman he had retired too early.

"That was when Kasper and Peter Schmeichel came down the stairs and I met them, they were happy to meet me.

"They then went off and told David De Gea and Sergio Ramos about me and as they came down the stairs they were pointing at me and laughing with each other."
