Super Bowl 2019: Fans slate rumours Maroon 5 will headline half-time show as NFL release statement

MAROON 5 are rumoured to be one of the possible acts to headline half-time of Super Bowl 2019 – and NFL fans aren't too happy.

Plans are already underway to make next year's show bigger and better than the previous offering.

Philadephia Eagles bagged NFL's biggest prize in February this year, their first ever win, with a 41-33 victory against New England Patriots.

Justin Timberlake was the showstopper charged with entertaining the millions watching live and around the world that time round.

Rumours were swirling on social media that California pop rock band Maroon 5 would be picked to perform on the biggest stage for 2019.

But this hasn't gone down well in some quarters.

One person posted on Twitter: "Maroon 5 performing at the Super Bowl will be the biggest snooze fest.

"Yeah I really want to chug beers to "She Will Be Loved"

Another, 'Carter V SZN' wrote: "I just wanna talk to whoever sat down and thought 'Super Bowl in Atlanta….Maroon 5'."

Colin Deaver was even more scathing of the band being put forward for the event.

He wrote: "The Super Bowl is in Atlanta. The NFL could’ve given us OutKast, Ludacris, Lil Jon, Future, T.I., Gucci Mane, Jermaine Dupri, Killer Mike, Waka Flocka Flame, and CeeLo all on one stage.

"But instead they said, 'ya know what? Maroon 5 is still hot. Let’s call them'."

'Marlins Dan' added: "Maroon 5 for the Super Bowl Halftime Show?

"The NFL must be joking *remembers who performed the past five Halftime Shows* Nope, they're serious."

And another Twitter user joked that Atlanta is being punished for blowing a huge lead in Super Bowl 51 to lose to New England Patriots.

'God's plan' wrote: "Maroon 5 are performing at a Super Bowl held in Atlanta as punishment for the Falcons blowing a 28-3 lead with less than two minutes left in the third quarter."

The NFL have moved to deny any acts had been chosen for the event, writing in a statement: "It's a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show.

"We are continuing to work with Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show."
