Tennis star Sabine Lisicki horrified as ballgirl jumps and squishes bug on court

TENNIS star Sabine Lisicki could not believe her eyes after a ballgirl raced onto the court to squash a bug.

The 2013 Wimbledon finalist, 29, was playing against Garbine Muguruza at the Thailand Open when the insect interrupted her serve.

She tried to gently move the critter out of her way with the end of her tennis racket.

But after three unsuccessful attempts, the ballgirl in Hua Hin charged onto the court without hesitation.

After a lengthy run-up, she jumped on top of the unsuspecting insect and killed it instantly.

Lisicki looked horrified and she attempted to cover her eyes while the member of staff picked up what was left of the insect.

The German star walked away in shock before she glanced back and forced an awkward smile.

After the match, she retweeted the bizarre clip to her Twitter page with an awkward monkey emoji.

One fan responded: "Don't mess with those ball girls. They will crush you like a bug."

Another added: "At least you came out of the match better than that insect."

After the incident, Lisicki went on to lose the match 6-3 6-4 in straight sets.

She said: "Tough match tonight! I'm disappointed in the outcome but it was a good match.

"Made a few bad choices on important points that make a difference in such a match. Working on that!

"One of the best matches since my comeback. Onwards and upwards we go."
