Hole 15: Par 3, 211 yards

Woods is 20 feet from the hole and is readying for a birdie putt that would tie him for the lead.

Hole 14: Par 4, 520 yards

A 315-yard tee shot on the long par five lands on the fairway and sets Woods up nicely for a chance to get another green in regulation. He follows it with his best shot of the day that puts him within six feet of the hole and Woods sinks the birdie putt as he inches closer to the lead.

Birdie, 3-under

Hole 13: Par 4, 440 yards

Woods opens with a 319-yard tee shot on the par four that goes to the left and lands in the rough. He follows that up with a second shot into the bunker, but a good rebound leaves him within seven feet of the cup with a chance to save par. He sinks the putt, and still does not have a bogey since the first hole. Woods is now tied with a host of others for second place and is only two strokes behind the leader, Rickie Fowler.

Par, 2-under

Hole 12: Par 4, 389 yards

A solid tee shit lands on the fairway and puts Woods just 100 yards from the hole. Another stellar approach shot has him with five feet of the hole. Woods’ irons have been strong all round, and that leads to an important birdie, his first since the sixth hole, which puts him two strokes behind McIlroy for the lead.

Birdie, 2-under

Hole 11: Par 3, 214 yards

A great tee shot puts Woods within 12 feet of the hole with a chance to birdie. He narrowly misses the putt and has his fifth straight par.

Par, 1-under

Hole 10: Par 4, 424 yards

Drive lands in the rough to start the back nine. Not the start that Woods wanted. The ensuing approach shot lands in the fringe, just shy of the green. A two-putt saves par.

Par, 1-under

Hole 9: Par 3, 235 yards

A short par 3 will conclude the first half of Woods’ Thursday round. His tee shot is short of the green and goes into a bunker on the left. A great shot out of the bunker leads to an easy par putt, which is sunk. Woods makes the turn with a 1-under 34 and finds himself in the top five.

Par, 1-under

Hole 8: Par 4, 455 yards

McIlroy added another birdie so he still leads Woods by three strokes. Another fairway hit has Tiger 177 yards to the pin, and he continues his tear from the fairway by landing 9.5 feet from the hole. The birdie putt once again can’t find the hole and Woods settles for a par.

Par, 1-under

Hole 7: Par 4, 481 yards

The tee shot goes to the right and Woods finds himself in the rough about 172 yards from the hole. He rebounds strong from the tough lie and sits on the green with the chance of his third consecutive birdie. The putt is missed but sets him up for an easy par.

Par, 1-under

Hole 6: Par 5, 525 yards

Another tee shot, another fairway for Woods, who sits three strokes behind the leader, Rory McIlroy. Woods is faced with a very uphill second shot. Shot No. 2 lands in the rough, but he still has an opportunity to get on the green for a birdie putt. His first shot out of the rough during the round works out, as he places himself on the green looking to go under par for the first time today. The birdie putt his sunk, and it looks like Woods is getting into a groove now.

Birdie, 1-under

Hole 5: Par 4, 442 yards

Woods’ driver continues to treat him well as his tee shot goes 328 yards, putting him on the fairway once again. He gets a green in regulation once again but will have his longest putt of the day, about 26 feet from the hole. Interestingly enough, Tiger’s toughest putt of the day gets in the hole and gives him his first birdie of the day.

Birdie, Even

Hole 4: Par 4, 479 yards

Woods’ first shot goes nearly 300 yards, and he hits another green in regulation as his second shot puts him about 16 feet from the hole for another birdie opportunity. His first putt goes long, as Woods misses his fourth birdie opportunity in as many holes. Tiger knocks in his third straight par putt.

Par, 1-over

Hole 3: Par 4, 391 yards

A 262-yard shot onto the fairway followed by a good approach shot has Woods under 10-feet away from a birdie. He narrowly misses his first put and has to tap in for a par.

Par, 1-over

Hole 2: Par 3, 197 yards

Another well-hit tee shot puts Tiger roughly 16-feet from the pin. The birdie putt misses, but still puts Woods in a good position to settle for a par.

Par, 1-over

Hole 1: Par 4, 469 yards

Woods makes it onto the green in two after a strong tee shot, but a three-putt forces him to bogey the opening hole. His short par putt raced about 6-feet past the hole.

Bogey, 1-over
