And while opponent Francesco Pianeta will hardly get British boxing fans excited, a potential scrap against unbeaten US champ Wilder most certainly would.

Wilder is the reigning WBC  belt-holder, and has seen a potential unification scrap against current WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO champion Anthony Joshua hit the buffers.

He added: “I’m pretty confident we can make it happen. It takes two to make a deal and if you really want to make a deal you will make it happen.”
