The 2018 U.S. Amateur final takes place Sunday at Pebble Beach, and Oklahoma State’s Viktor Hovland will take on UCLA’s Devon Bling.
Hovland and Bing combined to shoot 11 under in their semi-final matches. They now face off in the 36-hole final with a chance to make history.
Bing defeated Stanford’s Isaiah Salinda to earn his spot in next year’s U.S. Open and Masters. The top-two finishers in the U.S. Amateur automatically get spots in the season’s first two major championships.
“All aspects of my game were firing on all cylinders,” Bing said, via pebblebeach.com. “But it was a battle against Isaiah. He played great.
“When I was 1- or 2-up coming down the stretch, I was thinking, ‘If I close this out, I’m in to the U.S. Open and Masters,”
