Usain Bolt equals NFL’s 40-yard dash record in trainers at Super Bowl launch event

WHEN Usain Bolt sets his mind to achieve something, he usually does it and that was the case during Super Bowl Weekend.

Festivities are well underway for the 53rd edition of the Super Bowl, emanating from Atlanta's Mercedes Benz Stadium tonight.

At one of the fan events, the Jamaican decided to participate in the NFL 40-yard dash.

John Ross of the Cincinnati Bengals holds the record, registering an impressive 4.22 seconds.  Step forward Usain Bolt.

Whilst wearing street clothes and running without spikes that athletes usually wear, the 100m world record holder equalled the time set by John Ross in March 2017.

It was an impressive achievement given Bolt has not competed professionally since the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London.

He recently tried his hand at professional football in Australia's A-League and scored one goal, before calling it quits last month.

But taking part in the NFL 40-yard dash and breaking the record shows the 32-year-old will always have a passion for Athletics despite retiring 2 years ago.

The 2020 Olympics is next year however.  Is there the slightest possibility that the eight-time gold medalist will don the black, green and yellow of Jamaica once again?  Never say never.
