You don’t need to be a basketball genius to know the Los Angeles Lakers will be much better next season with the addition of LeBron James.
So it was not much of a surprise when the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas opened win total betting Sunday and projected the Lakers will win 48.5 games, fourth-best in the Western Conference.
The big surprise: The Westgate predicts the Spurs will miss the playoffs, something that hasn’t happened since 1997. San Antonio’s over-under win total is 43.5, ninth in the West.
The two-time defending champion Warriors lead the way in the West with 62.5 wins, with the Rockets at 54.5 and the Thunder third at 50.5. According to projected wins, the other Western teams predicted to make the postseason are the Jazz, Nuggets, Pelicans and Timberwolves.
The Celtics lead the way in the Eastern Conference, with 57.5 projected wins, followed by the 76ers and Raptors with 54.5 apiece. Other projected playoff teams are the Pacers, Bucks, Wizards, Heat and Pistons
The predictions caught the attention of Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum, who tagged teammate Damian Lillard in a Tweet.
