And it appears TV expert Wladimir Kobelkov has overstepped the mark with what he has had to say about the 28-year-old.

Yarmolenko told Xsport: “In my youth, I fought a lot. There were wins and there were losses. It’s normal for a boy, for a man.

“I want to announce my next fight. I don’t want to listen to that Kobelkov any longer.

"I want to call him out for a fight and get my revenge on all those things he’s said on air.

"I’m waiting for an answer.”

The bizarre reaction from Yarmolenko brings a new level to players and managers not taking criticism from pundits on television well.

And it remains to be seen whether commentator and pundit Kobelkov takes up Yarmolenko's offer to settle scores the old fashioned way.

But the player is finally starting to find his feet at the London Stadium following his switch from Borussia Dortmund.

He missed out on the first few weeks of the season largely because manager Manuel Pellegrini felt he was not fit enough for the demands of English football.

Yarmolenko was finally given his opportunity from the start in the match at Everton – and responded with two goals to inspire the Hammers to their first points of the season.

He then went on to play a key role in the battling draw against Chelsea before scoring again in the 3-1 win over Manchester United.

Pellegrini said:  “I said at the start that Andriy needs a few weeks to get used to playing in the Premier League.

“He has a lot of quality, we know that, but in this league you can’t just play with quality. You need pace and be prepared tactically to be an important part of the game.

“He demonstrated against Everton that it was the correct moment. He did it very well. After this performance, we must demand him to give more, because he’s able to be a top player for us.”
