OSI UMENYIORA has trekked up Kilimanjaro to raise money for Comic Relief with eight other celebrities.

The former NFL star was joined by famous faces to tackle the mountain ten years after Gary Barlow's attempt, but has had to endure a tougher and longer route than the Take That singer.

Who is Osi Umenyiora?

The London-born star is 37-years-old having been born on November 16, 1981.

He lived in the English capital until he was seven, moving to his parents' homeland in Nigeria.

Yet, at 14, he headed for Alabama in the US to live with his sister for a better education, before earning a scholarship with Troy State Trojans.

He married former Miss Universe Leila Lopes in 2015 and the couple announced she was pregnant in February 2018.

Has he climbed Kilimanjaro?

Umenyiora climbed Kilimanjaro for charity with Comic Relief.

He was joined by the likes of Dani Dyer, Ed Balls, Dan Walker, and Little Mix pair Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

It was a trek over rough terrain and high altitude, with the nine celebrities climbing almost six kilometres, taking a week to reach the top.

What NFL teams has Umenyiora played for?

The Londoner was drafted in the second round in 2003 by the New York Giants.

The defensive end went on to spend nine years at the MetLife Stadium, winning the Super Bowl in 2007 and 2011 – becoming just the fifth Brit to win one.

Two years after his last success, he headed for a new challenge at Atlanta Falcons, spending two seasons in Georgia before officially retiring in August 2015.
