Yu Darvish’s latest rehab start lasted one inning.

The 32-year-old right hander took the mound for the Single-A South Bend Cubs on Sunday as he attempts to return from tendinitis in his triceps. Darvish, however, left the game after he felt “something” in his arm while throwing warmup pitches before the second inning.

Darvish told The Athletic he felt fine during his 19-pitch first inning.

“The last pitch was 95 mph and I felt really good,” Darvish told The Athletic, through his interpreter. “I didn’t feel any abnormalities in that sense.”

Darvish, who signed a six-year, $126 million contract with Chicago in February, last pitched in an MLB game in late May. He has a 1-3 record with a 4.95 ERA in eight starts this season.

The Cubs entered play Sunday in first place of the National League Central with a 71-51 record.
